this project was inspired by the rawness of the desert floor. Like the expansiveness of the Mojave Desert, a low profile of extensive overhangs protect the home and provide shade for outdoor activities.

desert house.one is an exercise in restraint. designed and built during the housing crash, the modest home uses a simple palette of materials that responds well to the desert climate, low roof overhangs for shading, and expansive glazing to create a home that lives as comfortably inside as it does outside.

the interior is open and inviting. With many light filled spaces and views of both the immediate landscape and the mountains and city lights in the distance, no room goes without a connection to its exterior.
